Meet our Staff
We have 1 full time employee, and as many as 8 seasonal employees. Below are biographies on some of our staff members.
|
| |
Bill Adams-Patriarch
Bill is a true Vermont Original. Born on the 4th of July, he has lived at Adams Farm his entire life. Ask him when he started working at Adams Farm, he will reply "at an early age." Bill's been a commanding presence at the farm ever since and is the current owner.
On occasion you may find Bill driving your sleigh in the winter or more often, as the tractor driver of your wagon ride in the summer. Look for him on your visit; he's usually the one smoking the pipe (or the one with the smoke coming from his pants).

Sharon Adams-"The Glue"
Sharon is from Newport Center, Vermont. She was born on March 10. As soon as she married Bill Adams in 1960 her work at Adams Farm began and hasn't stopped.
As you can imagine, Sharon's held many positions on the farm. Currently holding the titles of, Reservationist, Farm Store Clerk, and Tractor Driver. Sharon thinks it's great that she lives and works at the same place with her children and grandchildren.

Steve Adams- Jack of all trades
Steven is from - you guessed it - Wilmington, Vermont. More specifically, born and raised at Adams Farm. His birthday is March 27. Steven's been working at the farm since he was "no taller than a hoe." He has many positions at Adams Farm including Bookkeeper, Teamster, Network Administrator, Tractor Driver, Sugar Maker, Mechanic, Substitute, Genealogist and Easter Bunny. Steven says the best part of his position(s) at the farm is, "you always know you're going to work, but you never know what you're going to do!"

Tessa Adams- Jane of all trades
Tessa is from Wilmington Vermont and is the first of the Adams' 6th generation to work on the farm.
Tessa is Bill and Sharon's "right hand man", Store Manager and Sleigh Driver in the winter. Tessa attended the Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School in 2002, and has been working at the farm full time since the summer 2006.
Tessa enjoys working at Adams Farm because "I get to do things I like, for example, working with horses, meeting new people, and learning many many things from gramp."
She celebrates her birthday, July 18th. Tessa left for the Navy in January of 2006. But the Green Mountains of Vermont called her back home! Lucky for us.

Lauren Adams-Family Girl
Lauren is part of the 6th generation here on the farm, and currently works for her father as a roofer. She helps us out part
time in the store and drives one of our sleighs for our sleigh rides during the winter months, and carries buckets
of sap for us during the spring. "Sugaring is such a tradition, I just wanna be a part of it."
Lauren currently attends the Community College of Vermont. Her birthdate is June 4.

Aunt Thelma Boyd- Knitting Queen, Piano Pumper & Hot Chocolate Whipper-upper
Bill Adams' sister, born here at the Farm on August 5. She's known to all as "Aunt Thelma" and is an inspiration to all women! She's a gardner, (she loves her berry bushes the most), quilter, knitter, seamstress, embroidery artist, incredible cook, butcher, woodworker, kayaker, snowshoer, breeder of those "wiener dogs" and a heck of a player piano pumper. She's also the one responsible for keeping that cabin so toasty warm in the winter! She's been an asset to this farm for over 60 years!

| |
Donna Spiller- "Can you help me with this" gal
Donna along with her 4 brothers and sisters attended Wilmington Elementary and High Schools with Bill and Sharon's
children. She's a blast at the cabin in the woods during Winter, entertaining guests with her unique Vermont humor, also
within the last year has made her way out to helping on the sleighs.
Donna thinks, "Working at Adams Farm is a joy. It's a load of fun (did I say work is fun - of course I did)
I go home with some hilarious story just about every day."

| |
Christopher "Kip" Adams- Sugar Maker and Goat Guy
For over 25 years, Kip has been a local contractor and spends most of his time at least two-stories off the ground.
He's also a goat farmer and lives just across the field from Adams Farm. His quality
Vermont meats can be tasted in some of the finest NYC and Boston Restaurants.
He is the Adams Farm's main sugar maker during March and April.

The Fleet of Putt Putts
Not exactly an employee, but still rather an intrical part of the workings at Adams Farm.
John Deere himself was from Vermont, thus the reason the tractor's are painted
the color of our Green Mountain State. Bill Adams bought his first John Deere tractor,
Model 40 at the age of 14 and has been purchasing and restoring ever since. We have a collection
of working John Deere models from the JD 520, JD 530, JD 620, JD 720, JD 730 and JD 820 series.
Hop aboard one of our Tractor drawn wagon rides and you'll learn all about these well loved machines.

Gone, but not Forgotten
Doris Adams 1916-2008
Doris Adams was the true Vermont Farm Woman, who passed along her passion for animals and her talents and knowledge of American lifestyle and art, to all of us at Adams Farm.
|
Gone, but not Forgotten
Louis Adams 1901-1997
Louis Adams saw more change in technology throughout history than any generation on the planet. From the horse and buggy to men on the moon. He taught us that no matter how young or how old (or handicapped)…there is always something of importance or value a person can contribute to the farm. To this former generation of Adams', you are truly missed and we are truly blessed!
